Resveratrol, liquorice and clove: the botanicals explained

4 min read

Three of the four ingredients in the patch are botanicals. None of them is new: each has a long history and a body of published research behind it.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a polyphenol, a type of plant compound. It's concentrated in red grape skins, and also turns up in berries and peanuts. It ranks among the most heavily researched plant compounds, with a large literature on its antioxidant activity.

Liquorice root

Liquorice comes from the root of Glycyrrhiza glabra, a plant used in traditional practice for centuries. Modern reviews examine the compounds in the root, including their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity in laboratory research.

Clove

Clove is the dried flower bud of the clove tree, once valuable enough to drive the spice trade. Its main compound, eugenol, gives clove its scent and is studied for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

The linked research covers each ingredient on its own and is not a study of this patch. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA or the TGA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
